I definitely didn’t make our day start off right by getting into the 30 in turns three and four and getting a cut tire. We were only 30 or so laps into the run, so we really were three laps down from the get-go. It made for a long day, but it didn’t mean that the GoDaddy team gave up. Qualified in 39th today at Dover. The car just didn’t want to stay on the track. I’m not really sure what else I can say, other than we didn’t have the grip we needed. We started from the back, and track position was really important here at Charlotte. We fought our way back to trying to be in a position to be on the lead lap. I felt like we were making real progress and starting to get the car to a place that was really good and had an accident, which is unfortunate because we were moving up. I feel like we made improvements to the GoDaddy Cares Chevrolet throughout the day. We had a good debrief with Tony and Ryan, and I feel like something we did for qualifying to get 7th might’ve been worth some grip in the middle of the corner, which is something I was looking for. Hopefully this translates to a good racecar – something consistent. It’s just so tough in the middle of the day when it’s hot and slippery out there. I feel like we made some progress and hopefully we have a good racecar for tomorrow. I’d love to race my way in, and that’s the plan.

“Probably the biggest thing was just not doing any qualifying runs at all. These cars are quite different when they go into qualifying. You drive as hard as you can with what you’ve got. Qualifying requires you to commit to something before you can feel it based on the fact you’re coming to the green the first time by the start/finish line. I’m not happy with that lap, but it’s been a long day. Everyone worked really hard to get the Go Daddy Chevy ready for qualifying. It’s going to make a lot of work for tomorrow night, but that’s the bed I made for myself.””
